I have allways been a supporter of our troops and was deeply disturbed not only to see the act of throwing the poor little puppy to it’s death but also by the laughing of other marines in the background. the problem isn’t the marines but rather the lack of morality and ethics taught in todays american society. This is sad and sickening. But there are so many cruel people out in the world. I worked at a Humane Shelter for a few months and the biggest abuser was the director. I went to everybody for help (state attorney general, PETA..everybody!) and no one did anything. Would you want your Marines to be sympathetic to puppies more than they are people? It doesn’t make what he did right. I’m sure the Marines hate what this guy did, too. There have been many soldiers in all these places that have saved dogs-dogs is what probably kept most of these guys sane in this insane world. This guy needs to be punished and needs a lot of mental help. The Marines will deal with him. The best way to remember the puppy is by going out and doing something positive for a dog, (adopt a dog, give to dogsindanger or dogtown, Best Friends Animal Society or some LEGIT rescue group) in the ‘Marine tossed puppy’s’ name. The creep has to deal with that for this rest of his life. If he can ever find someone to marry him after this-someone should give him a fathead of himself doing that so he NEVER forgets. There are so many abuse stories (like Edna the beagle in Philly, the eagle killed by a golfer’s ball)and ones that aren’t published like collars so tight they grow into dog’s necks, dogs dumped in the country. It is up to us to change things.

It’s just as plausable that it was a dead dog (stuffed or stiff) as it was a real dog. If it’s so wrong, then they knew that this behavior was immoral and bad. So why would they a) allow their faces to be captured on videotape, b) have the cameraman say the soldier-in-question’s name at the end without cutting it off, and c) have the entire tape be released on youtube? Hell, even Riviari(Rivieri, Riviera?) was smart enough to -try- and make sure the camera was off. And he didn’t even think of his actions as wrong or unjust.

Has anybody noticed how much even the international media coverage has completely died down on this story? Of course the national coverage is basically nil. I’m now wondering what the marines are going to do with their fellow marine or if this another dog abuse incident that is going to be swept under the carpet like Edna the beagle torture case in Philly (which got dropped to a misdemeanor from a felony). My only concern, is that I wish the American people would raise their voices, much like they did for this puppy, to those who DIED in 9\11. Hey to break it to you, but look at our History within the U.S., anything that SHOULD be taken seriously, is unfortunatly thrown out as old news. Remember after 9\11? Also the Saudi government banned the sale of dogs and cats because they don’t want their people to be influenced by the Western Culture. War games are a good instrument to provide valuable information on survival! Those of us who actually served, know that the information taught, could some day save lives. Maybe your own!
Learning at a young age on breaching and clearing, proper weapon handling, and so forth, will someday be an asset not worth losing!
