Is this really the type of thinking that happens in churches?
Disclaimer: The author of this posts admits to not believing in any form of religion, and generally looks down upon it.
I found this little article about a church in South Carolina, and needless to say the ignorance of the pastor was downright scary. There is no amount of money in the world that would get me to vote for a socialist like Obama, but with all of the negatives that come along with him, this is the best they could come up with?
I believe this quote from the article sums up the ignorance found in many churches today:
Pastor Byrd says the sign is not meant to be racial or political but rather to make people think. “His name is so close to Osama I have a feeling he might be Islamic therefore he doesn’t recognize Christ,” Pastor Byrd said.
I know it’s isn’t an isolated incident, as I had firsthand experience with this type of thinking here in Las Vegas. I even managed to win a bet with someone because they chose to use this line of thinking as well.
Whatever happened to the idea that in order to avoid paying taxes, churches couldn’t become involved in politics?

“Churches” are not required to think-they are there to control. Church members, as a whole, don’t think-they follow.
Very well said Dixie.
Dixie~
I highly suggest you study on the different religions before you make a idiotic statement like that! Many different cultures do indeed stress the importance of “following”. Many others however stress the “relationship” with the lord. Research the differences between Islam, Mormons, Catholics and Christians and deceifer for yourself.
Surefire-Do you really want to know my “religious history”? This time you can’t intimidate me. I’m standing firm because I do know what I’m talking about-believe what you want and follow who you want (you still have that “freedom”). Just don’t expect me on the same road.
Dixie~
I didn’t ask for your religious history? If I wanted to know, I would have given it to you~ I have noticed your replies about religion, and I can’t help but think, somewhere along your silver spoon life you were misguided. You claim to have this “history”, sounds more like the lack of!
Your so broken~
Silver Spoon Life? You really don’t have a clue. Not surprised, just curious why you would think that. Thanks for the laught.
Dixie~
I can tell by your responses that you are young. Early 20’s I think. You have much to learn, and obviously still a child. I mean hell, once again you can’t spell correctly?
Sorry about the spelling-I was laughing too hard. Still laughing-sorry the intimidation tactics didn’t work this time. Thanks for the compliment……or insult, really don’t care.
Dixie~
Instead of wasting each others time with this childish behavior, why don’t we research the topics at hand, then make a comment! It would seem you choose to continue with this B.S., and for what? As for intimidation?, I haven’t even started yet.. but I can if you wish~
Now now kids, lets be nice here.
Lets talk about how cool I am.
Okay Mr Cool Admin,
Seriously your clips on religion are right on. Unfortunately, there are people who need something to hold on to-religion, drugs, alcohol, etc. and they draw their “strength” from that. Whatever. Back to the subject at hand-a friend of mine voted for Bush at the last election because her minister urged the congregation to vote for “the Christian-Bush”. So much for the separation of church and state. Yes, this type of thinking goes on at churches because people are basically followers, not independent thinkers. Admin-if you want to know why I feel the way I do about religion (via e-mail only) I can give you the date of a magazine that will explain partly WHY (Penthouse BUT no pics). Only if you promise not to write up anything about it-I really have been trying to stay “quiet” …to an extent.
But Surefire, you sounds like a cranky old man-probably ex-military or retired military-sixty or seventy years old maybe?
Old…HAHAHAHAHA!!! Not even close! But nice try though~
And your getting your reliable information from a porn mag???
That explains it!
